A celebratory event for dance instructors and dance students with visible and non-visible disabilities to discover, explore, and integrate best practices for teaching and learning the art of dance and choreography.

NEW WORKSHOP

Saras Feijoo
Playfulness Skills for your Daily Life and Business. Saturday March. 27th, 2021. 1:00pm-3:30pm EST
Experience the transformative power of Playfulness in this workshop that will provide you with practical actions to live your life in a more playful, empowered and resilient way.
Our session uses playfulness as the match to ignite the imagination and creativity of those who believe in the importance of having daily fun and joy, creative entrepreneurs and sole traders, business owners and parents.
Using exercises, visualisations, and Q&A we will discover how to infuse more playful elements into your daily activities, the connection with yourself, others and your business/work.
At the end of the workshop, you will leave with a new sense of connection and understanding of your playful self. You will have the ability to heal your heart, recharge your energies and the freedom of having experience who you really are!

SPECIAL GUEST - KITTY LUNN
The Joy of Transposing Dance with Infinity Dance Theater - FOR DANCE TEACHERS. Sat. Feb. 20th, 2021. 1:00 -2:30pm PST. - FOR DANCE STUDENTS. Sat. Feb 20th, 2021. 11:00am-12:30pm
“Listen to the dancer in your heart. He or she will show you the way”.
While preparing for her first Broadway show in 1987 Kitty Lunn (Artistic Director of Infinity) slipped on ice, fell down a flight of stairs and broke her back. Now a paraplegic, she uses a wheelchair and works diligently on behalf of performing artists with disabilities.
As a steward of the art of dance, Kitty will teach and demonstrate how she transposes the dance styles of Graham, Horton, and Classical Ballet as well as Qi Going and Reiki techniques onto dancers with visible and non-visible disabilities. In this class, there will be live accompaniment by William Catanzaro.


Pamela Quinn
PD Movement Lab - Feb 16, 2021. 11 AM (PST)
A movement class for people with Parkinson’s Disease set to a wide variety of music and taught by Pamela Quinn, PD patient for over 25 years.
The class will provide a detailed description of PD symptoms (various difficulties with walking, freezing, festination, posture, sitting/standing, balance, etc.) by describing how Parkinson’s affects our mobility and what we can do to manage it.
The class draws from dance movement and sports drills and uses imagery and rhythm to facilitate movement. It aims to be educational, restorative and fun!
No prior movement experience is required. All are welcome.

Make Your Dance Classes and Projects Accessible with Audio Description. Feb 20, 2021 9:00 AM (PST)
What can dance instructors do to improve the experience of their students who are sight impaired?
Increase the diversity of your classes and artistic projects through descriptive language. Explore audio description, a method of making visual elements accessible through verbal cues, along with ways to make your studio, production, virtual and physical classroom more welcoming and inclusive for people who are blind or partially sighted.
